People say I'm:
-
Describe Yourself:It's always been difficult for me to describe myself and in that way I am very much a Gemini. I want to center myself, be less of a chameleon, and less of what people expect me to be. I want to be more authentic and well defined in some ways and more of an enigma in others.

On Gather, I'm Looking For ...:nothing in particular. Friends and a creative outlet.

Favorite Music, Artists, Genres:
-
Favorite Books, Writers, Genres:I love books! No particular genre, best sellers, classic literature, fiction, non-fiction, historical, biographic but no comic books, graphic novels and no sci-fi. Mostly I like books that Oprah suggests. It may seem shallow, but she picks great books that (mostly) I love. Favorite authors include John Grisham, Toni Morrison, Wally Lamb, and Alice Walker and many more.
-
Favorite Movies, Actors, Genres:Again, it's probably easier to say what I don't like: Horror and sci-fi. But pretty much everything else is in the running. All time favorite movie: Wizard of Oz. Guilty pleasure movie: Pretty Woman. Seen the most: Sleepless in Seattle. Most romantic: Out of Africa. Makes me cry every time: Philadelphia. Laughed the most: The Man Who Sued God. Recently seen: The Blind Side, Sherlock Holmes, It's Complicated (my new favorite!), Julie and Julia.
-
Favorite TV Shows, Actors:Eh! I'd love to be able to turn up my nose and say I don't watch the tube, but the truth is I do. Too much. What I don't like: reality shows, most sit coms. What I'm really, really tired of: entertainment that poses as news, and Law and Order. Likes: ER (sniff), Grey's Anatomy, Big Bang Theory (hysterical), and Bill Moyer's Journal (it's been canceled and I'm mad at PBS).
-
Favorite Places:I'm not a world traveler so most of my favorite places are close to home: San Juan Islands in Puget Sound, British Columbia, Montana in the summer, Hawaii in the winter, the beach anytime and the mountains in the spring. Luckily I live near the beach and the mountains. Lack of (financial) resources keep me from traveling to small magical places in the world. Sunny tropical locales would be nice for respite, but my heart lives in the mountains.
-
Interests and Activities:I'm trying to expand my interests beyond reading and gardening and find other things with which to define myself. I like dogs, bird watching (hard to do with dogs), walking, watching sports, and embracing the arts. I want to try biking again, drawing, living each day to its fullest. I want to be fully present in the now, and less fearful of the future. My activities don't include sports or games. I used to be a jock, but those days are gone and I'm not sorry. I don't play many games because I don't like rules. I wan to learn to meditate and do yoga. I just started belly-dancing and for someone who can't chew gum and walk, this is very challenging. I am experiencing a renewed interest in cooking -- healthier this time.

GayLynn P., Jul 20, 2011, 4:47AM EDTHello? Is anyone home? It's been so long since I've been to Gather, I don't know if anyone is out there any more. If you are there, please check my posts for a poem I wrote for my dad who died recently. His memorial is this Saturday 07/23/11 and I don't know if this poem is fit to use or not. I need feedback on Thief of Hearts. Thank you!

Sandra H., Feb 4, 2010, 8:37AM ESTGood morning, GayLynn! Sorry I've not gotten to your ping before this. Things have been busy around here and then Stacey got sick last weekend and is still not doing great. She started with a sore throat on Saturday night and by Monday it had moved to her chest. I had her to the doctor on Monday afternoon and they did a breathing treatment in the office and then put her on steroids and an inhaler. She is still coughing and hacking and really congested in her head too......she basicallly a real mess and feels like crap....... I have to take her to see her neuropsychiatrist this morning. I would have canceled but she hasn't seen him since early December.........So sorry to hear about your boyfriend's health problems. Has he been to see the doctor yet? I hope they are able to resolve the problem without surgery. Good that he is eating much better with your help!.......I'm doubting I'll make it to the flea market this Sunday. I'm thinking the weather will be the determining factor this week, we're supposed to get about 10" of snow on Saturday. If that happens I doubt they will have the flea market cleared in time for vendors to set up on Sunday..bummer!.....Well, better get going as it will soon be time to head out to the doctor.....I hope you are having a good week. Try not to overdo with the work! :) Have a great day my friend.....take care......hugs, Sandy

Sandra H., Jan 19, 2010, 5:37AM ESTGood morning, GayLynn! I am so sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your lovely New Year and birthday ping. I think I am moving in slow motion since the New Year began. I finally finished getting my Christmas decorations down a few days ago......What wonderful news to hear that you had such a terrific New Year's eve with the new beau, that's fantastic my friend!.......How has your weather been? Are you having much rain? It seems like we've had more rain than snow so far this winter and I'm not complaining except for when it rains on Sundays! I hate missing the flea market! LOL......Not much new here, just the same old, same old! I am anxiously awaiting Spring and can't wait to see the tulips you sent me.......Have a great day my friend and take care......hugs, Sandy
